I.International Exchange Student Program

1.International Student Services

The members of the faculty and staff of the Office of International Programs are dedicated to assisting international students from our sister schools in the following affairs:

(1) applying for admission

(2) providing scholarship information

(3) finding volunteers to help foreign students

(4) providing information with regard to applying for official documents (visa extensions and residence)

(5) other related issues

2.Visa, Alien Resident Card & Health Insurance

As there is no “Student  Visa” for International students coming to Taiwan to study. International students must apply for a valid visa (better a Resident Visa) with the official admission letter issued by Wenzao BEFORE entering Taiwan. If students enter with a Visitor Visa, they are normally granted a 60-day validity and will need to extend the visa 15 days before expiration. Students come with a Visitor Visa and study for more than 180 days, they will have to change to a Resident Visa at the Bureau of Consular Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs after registering at Wenzao.

After obtaining a resident visa, you must apply for an Alien Resident Certificate (ARC) at the local service of National Immigration Agency within 15 days after your arrival. With ARC, students can open bank accounts and apply for telecommunication services. If you want to apply for a credit card here, you need to find a guarantor.  Otherwise, you should consider to apply for an internationally recognized credit card at your home country which should be able to use in .  For visa issue, please visit the website of the Bureau of Consular Affairs.

It is strongly recommended that all international students in Wenzao enroll in a student health insurance plan. The student health insurance fee is NT$293 per semester, and it covers accidental injury and hospitalization claims.

3.International Student Assistant (ISA)

In order to help international students settle down and soon get acquainted with local life in Taiwan, we recruit Wenzao voluntary students to be International Student Assistants (ISA) to each international student during your stay at Wenzao. The ISAs will help you with most of the living & studying problems you encountered during your exchange term.

II. Center of Chinese Language

Wenzao Ursuline College of Languages is Taiwan's only college of foreign languages. We have Taiwan's most advanced audiovisual center, equipped with instructional videos and audio tapes, and multifunctional language labs. The Center of Chinese Language is one of the newest divisions in Wenzao, focusing on language and cultural exchange between the Chinese and peoples from other nations. Our instructors are speakers of standard Mandarin, well-trained and highly experienced in teaching Chinese as a foreign language. With the guidance of these teachers, students soon master practical Chinese, adapt to life in Taiwan, and are able to appreciate the many aspects of Chinese culture. The classes we offer are varied and flexible enough to fit varied needs and schedules.
